2. A Thousand Words Unsaid
The classroom buzzes with a frantic sound,
A hundred answers thrown onto the ground.
And I hold one perfect thought inside my head,
but it just adds to the thousand words unsaid.
They hand me sheets of numbers, black and white,
A score to be achieved with all my might,
but the only score I hear is on this manuscript I see:
a silent world that’s just for me, just for me.
In my world, I long for a space to be,
a sanctuary, solitude: heaven to me.
How I wish this were a wordless song,
Ooo…
In my world, I claim this space to be,
my sanctuary, solitude: heaven to me.
How could this quiet song tell the truth
and strength for all to see.
Here, the thousand words don’t need a sound
in all this silence
My true self is found alone.
